Marbled endpapers. Measures 7"x4.5". Volume 10 of the 36-volume Naturalist set (The Histoire Naturelle, Générale et Particulière, Avec la Description du Cabinet du Roi), of which 9 volumes were about birds. Written by Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon. Buffon was a leading 18th-century French naturalist, mathematician, cosmologist, and encyclopédiste. His works influenced the next two generations of naturalists. Contains 7 engraved plates of birds. An overall firm copy, with splitting to boards (binding remains firm and tight however); rubbed corners; light wear to boards; wear to upper spine end; title label missing on spine; darkening to edges of marbled endpapers; normal age toning to pages; interior is clean and free of markings save pencilled notes on rear endpaper.
